A Lesson Learned

Well we are 2 weeks away from officially starting our journey. Training has been going real well...starting to get a feeling for what it was like for Forrest Gump since we have been doing so much Run-Ning! :-)
It's funny...for such a simple sport, I continuously find I learn new things about it. For example, this past Saturday I ran the Bedford Basin loop...from my house it is 43km. This loop is an undulating route and on a typical day I would run it between 4:15-5 hours which includes stops at gas stations. Well this Saturday I forced myself to walk about 10% more. It took me an extra hour to complete but what a difference walking a little more made. I had 0 soreness from the 6 hour run and was able to run 3 hours Sunday morning on what felt like fresh legs. The Lesson -> seems like a little bit extra walking helps in going further with less damage/soreness to the body. Perhaps it helps the body keep up with buffering out the lactic acid. I don't know the exact science but it seemed to work.
Attached is a picture from where I ran off Hammonds Plains Road on Sunday. Love running up there.
All the best everyone!
