Well it looks like this is going to happen!

Wow! This is the first post for our journey. We, Jason and I, are going to run the Trans Canada Trail, also known as Newfoundland T'Railway, in 14 days in July. It's 883 km. We have almost 4 months. For now that's it. All the details about us, about the trail, and our training will follow...

See you soon...

  2. Hi Yigit,

I live down the street on Ravines. You guys are making memories to last a lifetime and I look forward to being part of it, even if it is from the sidelines! Inspiration comes in many forms and right now from you both I am getting the "anything is possible" and "don't sweat the small stuff" which is so important for me in my everyday life!! You have the best running partner ever....I miss him as a work partner that is for sure!!! Good luck guys!

  3. Hi guys -- I admire your enthusiasm and determination. However, according to my calculations, you intend to run about 40 miles a day on 14 consecutive days. This is about running one and a half marathons each day for 14 days on a row. Given that this is trail running and you are not racing, it is probably safe to assume that your average pace will be around 14-15 minutes per mile at best, which amounts roughly to 9-10 hours of running a day with that pace for 14 days. As far as I know (and I know a bit -- I was a long distance runner myself once), this is not a reasonable goal by any means or else you'll get your bodies into serious trouble. Let me know what it is I am missing. Not that I don't support you, just au contraire! I just want to understand... 8-)

    Hi Feylezof,
I first want to say thanks for taking the time not only to post a comment but for doing some analysis and offering feedback. I have to admit, when I read your comment I did take the time to email your comments to our coach/trainer (Shane MacLeod) to get his feedback. There is no question, as he put it 'the plan is very ambitious and will prove to be very challenging at times'. I am not taking this 'excursion' lightly and I am working with a very qualified sports nutritionist, coach and osteopath to do everything we can to help ensure completing this journey. I am trying to keep in mind that this all started as a way to share an adventure with my dad. As much as I plan to do everything in my power to increase the likelihood that we will complete this run, I want to make it about the journey not about finishing.
BTW...I plan to post some information on the Support Team and how we plan to approach the run in the weeks ahead.
All the best and please feel free to offer more comments.
